30 day anime challenge #4

animechallengeThe 30 Day Anime Challenge is where you post a picture every day of one of your favourite animes – focusing on a favourite character, a great scene or just an anime of great significance to you. I loved posting these and talking about them, and I love to see what everyone else has posted under the hashtag #30DayAnimeChallenge on social media. Here is my fourth lot of five for the 30 Day Anime Challenge – what are yours?

For my full 30 Day Anime Challenge, please follow me on Instagram.

Anime with the best animation: Black★Rock Shooter.

Black★Rock Shooter completely blew me away the first time I watched it. The animation was incredible – managing to be gritty and beautiful at the same time – and the Vocaloid music complimented it perfectly. The high-octane fight scenes and the contrasting transitions between reality and Black★Rock Shooter’s world were simply stunning. I couldn’t fault it.

Favourite supporting male anime character: Rundelhaus Code (aka Rudy) from Log Horizon.

Everything is better in Elder Tale when Rudy’s around. Not only is he a cocky black mage who thinks he’s the most heroic, super-powerful magic-user in the group (which is basically like me when I’m playing FFXIV), he also sparkles. It’s difficult to dislike an anime character when they start sparkling. I won’t go into the spoilers that surround him in the first season, but the truth behind him really gives him that extra dimension, so he’s not just comic relief. I’m loving the second season of Log Horizon at the moment, and I hope I get to see him soon!

Favourite supporting female anime character: Rima Mashiro and KusuKusu from Shugo Chara.

Yes, I’m having both of them as my choice because, much like the traditional comic double-act, you can’t have one without the other. Rima is so small and cute and she has some really great contrasting moments with Amu (usually involving her trademark condescending glare). Contrary to her standard expression, Rima loves comedy and takes every aspect of it very, very seriously. BALA-BALANCE!

Most epic scene ever: Blank vs. Jibril in No Game No Life.

I absolutely love the epic games played by Sora and Shiro in No Game No Life. Every game they play is bigger and more impressive than the last. My particular favourite, however, is their twisted ‘literal word game’ battle with the flugel Jibril, where the stakes became so high that the battle ended up them removing the lithosphere from the world in order to defeat their opponent. Epic.

Anime character that gets on my nerves: Mawata Awayuki from Pretear

The first character I remember being annoyed by in an anime was Mawata. She had everything she could possibly want yet she was always mopey for no reason. She just ended up causing trouble for absolutely everyone – Himeno, the leafe knights and her family. Then she fell into Fenrir’s hands and all hell broke loose. Her perpetually sad face even irritates me now. Suck it up, Mawata.

And there you have it. Next time I will be talking about my favourite goofy anime character, favourite weapon used in an anime, favourite attack used in an anime, anime moment that shocked me the most and my saddest anime death.
